Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is a crystalline resin that offers some of the best heat resistance, chemical resistance and electrical properties of all engineering plastics. Crystallization is rapid, so cycle times are short, while weather resistance, friction resistance, wear resistance, dimensional stability and heat aging resistance are all outstanding. PBT is known for its great physical property balance and economical benefits. Importantly, properties are greatly enhanced when glass fiber or mineral filler are added to PBT, and making it flame retardant is very easy. PBT is widely used in TV parts and such electrical parts as connectors, relays and switches. In addition, water absorption is low, and PBT is a highly reliable material for precision parts and automotive parts even after extended periods of use.
